What to Wear to a Fall Wedding - and How to Stay Warm!

Ladies, it's that time again. The leaves are falling, it's getting colder, and wedding season is almost here. One of the hardest things about a fall wedding is figuring out how to look stylish while staying warm.

Many people think that the most popular time for weddings is between April and September, and by most industry standards, they would be right. But more and more people are getting married in the colder months to save money on deals during the off-season.

Fall Wedding Ideas 2022

Rephrased:

With cooler weather approaching and wedding season underway, it's time to think about the best pieces to wear to these special occasions.

One of the most important factors to consider when choosing what to wear to a fall wedding is the type of wedding. These days, ceremonies and receptions can take many different forms, from outdoor tent weddings to indoor-outdoor affairs.

Tented weddings typically have heaters, but if you're prone to feeling cold, you may still want to bring a layer or two. Many couples have started giving out cute flannel blankets as wedding favors for outdoor weddings to keep guests warm. If the couple has chosen not to do this, you'll need to be prepared for the cooler evening air.

THE BRIDE

The Wedding Dress/Accessories:

Almost every bride wants to find her dream wedding dress, and a bride having a fall wedding is no exception. Look for dresses that cover you up a bit more when you go dress shopping.

Dresses with long sleeves, floor-length skirts, and multiple layers of fabric will help keep you warm while also making you look absolutely gorgeous.

If your dress is longer, you'll be able to wear thermals underneath, which you'll be glad you did once the excitement of walking down the aisle has worn off.

To look like a total diva, finish the look with accessories that are simple but still sophisticated.

WEDDING GUESTS

Accessories:

Not only are hats, gloves, and scarves super cute, but they also help keep you warm. Even if you don't want to wear hats during the ceremony, you might want to bring them with you so you can wear them after the pictures are taken.

Switch from gloves to mittens to keep your fingers warm. For extra warmth, put a pair of silk or wool liners inside your mittens.

Shoes:

Ok, let's be serious for a second. Even though open-toe or peep-toe shoes can be cute and stylish, closed-toe shoes are the best choice here. You'll probably be glad for the extra coverage at an outdoor wedding, where wet grass can quickly soak your toes if you're wearing open shoes.

The vibe of the wedding and the couple are the most important things to consider when choosing your shoes. If the wedding is casual and on the beach, you might be able to wear open toe sandals.

So, what are some of the best outfits to wear to a fall wedding that will keep you warm? Here are 11 ways to make your fall/winter wedding outfit feel warmer yet stylish

1. Long sleeves

No matter where you live, a fall wedding will probably be a bit chilly. Instead of carrying a coat around all night, choose a dress or blouse with long sleeves.

My favorite is a long-sleeved maxi dress with a wrap that makes your waist look smaller, keeps you warm, and lets you move freely on the dance floor.

Here's how to accessorize your dress: Put on some chunky-heeled sandals and use one of our trendy clutch bags to store your phone and lip gloss. Loose, beachy curls take your look to the next level.

2. Sequin Outfits

If you are looking for something new, try a dress or jumpsuit with rich sequins. When it comes to accessories, less is more. Maybe a simple ring. Maybe a pair of studs for your ears.

Sequins are so flattering since they highlight everyone's natural beauty. Fun is what sequins are all about. Sequins are always up for a good time, whether they are on a gown for the main event or a jumpsuit for the after-party. So have fun!

3. Maxi Dresses

Fall maxi dresses can be worn in so many ways, and they're one of my favorite things to wear. Fun layers and accessories give you a lot of options.

For casual events, choose a maxi dress with a pop of print. Small florals or prints that look like nature will give your dress the update it needs for the season.

Going to a wedding that requires formal attire? Choose a floor-length gown made of luxurious satin. Add shine to your look by putting on your most comfortable heels and a delicate chain necklace.

4. Thick Fabrics

Most of the year, we try to avoid anything that isn't very light and easy to breathe through. A sweater dress is worth a try.

You can make beautiful outfits with heavier fabrics that you wouldn't normally wear, and you'll stay warm at the outdoor ceremony.

5. Jumpsuit

You can pull off wearing pants to a wedding. But to do that, they have to be interesting and dressed up. What's the best way? Opt for a jumpsuit.

You can try something soft and flowy or something with bright colors and patterns. If it's a casual fall wedding at an event center, choose a women's knit jumpsuit that is both comfortable and stylish. A jumpsuit with wide legs is flattering and suitable for all seasons.

But no matter what, you have to wear heels. Add some style to your outfit with sandals with straps, a big statement necklace or long, eye-catching earrings, and a stack of gold bracelets that sparkle when you move.

8. Statement Coat

You might think of a coat as something that gets in the way, but a well-matched coat can really make an outfit pop. The trick is in the styling, so use what you have.

Add some sparkle to a plain coat by wearing it over a jumpsuit or a flowy empire dress.

9. Midi Dress

Fall looks are so easy to put together with midi dresses. They also make great transitional pieces. Your legs will stay warmer in a midi-length dress than in one that falls above the knee.

I like it when they have a little slit in the back so you can see a little more skin, and it makes your legs look longer. Since these dresses hit between the knee and the ankle, it's nice to show a little more skin if you can.

A stylish black belt looks great with a midi dress. Add a pair of black heels to finish. Choose a pair of earrings that stand out, and you're ready to go.

10. Sleeveless Dress

The worst thing is to fall in love with a dress but not buy it because it doesn't have sleeves. Even though sleeveless dresses in the fall seem like a bad idea, you can put together some cute looks with them.

Here are some ideas for how to wear a dress without sleeves in the fall.

  • Tip #1: Wear It With A Thin Turtleneck Underneath.

This kind of solution usually works with sleeveless sheaths or tunics with armholes that let you layer underneath and a style that works for this kind of look. It's also important to wear the right kind of sweater under the dress. The best knits are slim and close to the body.

  • Tip #2: Put A Stylish Cardigan Over The Dress.

Putting a cardigan over a dress with no sleeves is nothing new. But I've found that most women wear this cardigan as an afterthought, which means that it's often just a sweater added for function, not style. Choose a cardigan for that wedding outfit that not only covers your arms but also goes with the dress's colors.

  • Outfit #3- Add A Separate Blazer/Bomber Jacket

Putting a blazer or bomber jacket over a sleeveless dress can give wedding outfits a chic and edgy look. This grey and red bomber jacket can be worn with a cute little black dress (Little Black Dress).

11. Multicolored Wraps

A shawl is a perfect accessory to wear to a wedding in the fall or a mild winter. They cover you just enough to keep you warm for a few outdoor photos and add a pop of color to your wedding day outfit.

Now that you know what to wear to a fall wedding, let's talk about your accessories.

You can get so many different kinds of bags. You can add a pop of color to your outfit with a cute clutch. Or, choose a small crossbody bag with a lot of texture, like one with faux fur or glitter details.

Pair a purse with interesting textures with sparkling jewelry for a multidimensional effect. Try layering necklaces in different metals to add glimmer and polish to your ensemble.

Put them all together, and there you go. You're all set to celebrate the happy couple in grand style.
